In 2021, when I solidified a working network between all the charities helping to support families with babies and young children in Coventry and Warwickshire, I never thought I would find Baby Godiva’s new best friend.
As with all babies, they grow up and, start to mix with other children, and forge new alliances. My little guy is no exception. Baby Godiva and his new bestie, Clothing Coventry, are going to be merged going forward.
This plan has been several months in the making and will take several more months to fully realise. But, in the short term, we will begin to share each other’s spaces while Baby Godiva secures a location close to Clothing Coventry. Clothing Coventry will begin to take in donations on behalf of Baby Godiva and, all clothing will go them for sorting and distribution as part of their ongoing mission.
Baby Godiva retains his own identity but will be under the Clothing Coventry umbrella. He will have his own place, his own services and a fully trained team of volunteers. This will enable us to spread further into the community to support more families in need and this merger will remove some of the barriers to growth we have been experiencing in the last 5 year of operation.
Katie and I are watching over, like any good Mum does, to make sure our guys get along and flourish together. I am lucky to have found a friend in Katie and know this move is going to be transformational for my, not so little anymore, Baby Godiva.
